Installation instructions
- Clone or download this repo
- Press F12 to bring up the developer toobox. Click the menu button in the top right and open settings. Check "Enable browser chrome and add-on debugging toolboxes" near the bottom right. Close the developer toolbar afterwards.
- Drag the searx-opensearch-Firefox.xml file from this repo onto the Firefox window. Copy the address in the location bar to the clipboard. You can close the tab now.
- Click the main "hamburger" menu, then Web Developer, then Browser Console.
- In the Browser Console window command line box, enter the following, replacing the placeholder text with the address you copied earlier. You'll probably see "undefined" after submitting the text — don't worry about it.
- Services.search.addEngine("PASTE THE ADDRESS HERE", null, null, false);
- In your preferences you should now see an entry for searx, and be able to set it as your default.

Search engines in Firefox
The search.json.mozlz4 file stores the user-installed search engines that are available in the Firefox Search bar.
